Tara Oldfield, Fundraising Director
Falling in love with Ballet after watching Coppelia on PBS, Tara begged her mother for the chance to take dance classes. At the age of seven, Tara's mom registered her for a ballet class taught by former Ballet West dancer (Taggart West), and from that moment on Tara had the dancing fever. She went on to study with skilled teachers at Ballet West Conservatory and the Virginia School of the Arts. Ballet technique remained her focus until she received a scholarship from the University of Utah's Modern Dance department. While at the University of Utah, Tara apprenticed with Repertory Dance Theatre, dancing in Doris Humphrey's “My Red Fires”. After injuring herself during her sophomore year of college, Tara decided to change her focus from dance performance and choreography to sociology. Moving to the Front Range area , Tara started performing again. Now retired from performing she has worked with Angie Simmons and Amy Shelley through Evolving Doors Dance for the past four years, and three seasons with CBDC.
