Michelle Bernier (Dancer, Artistic Collaborator)

Michelle Bernier holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Colorado Boulder and a BA in Philosophy summa cum laude from the University of Southern Maine. She has danced professionally with the Portland Symphony Orchestra as a soloist, and with companies such as Collective Motion, Terpsichore Dance Repertory Company, Life/Art Dance Ensemble, Dance Art Media, and others, alongside freelance performance. Her choreography has been seen at Denver Art Museum, Dairy Arts Center, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and Fiske Planetarium. Recently, Michelle has redirected much of her creative energy toward teaching and filmmaking. She has taught a somatic approach to ballet, tap, jazz, and contemporary dance at colleges/universities, conferences, workshops, and private studios along the front range and out of state, and has directed a noncompetitive youth touring ensemble. Her films have been screened in the U.S., Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago, and Sweden, and she now serves as the Executive Director and Artistic Co-Director of the Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema. This is Michelle's 1st season with CBDC!
