CBDC is in the beginning stages of creating their 6th evening-length concert, In Transit
We are currently seeking a cast of guest dancers to perform with the principle company members, Angie Simmons, Leslie Merrill and Cindy Brandle at The Dairy Center for the Arts, Performance Space. Times for rehearsals are to be determined based on the availability of the new cast members. Those dancers cast will be able to take class with Cindy for free and there will be a modest performance pay.
“In Transit” will be a multi-media modern dance concert addressing the concept of transitional moments in life and the idea that it unfolds exactly as it is meant. Utilizing fresh, athletic, compassionate choreography with original dance for camera, the piece will investigate numerous personal stories relating to the subject matter. Designed as vignettes (both live performances and short video pieces), each section will be woven together seamlessly. The main players, if you will, are three CBDC company members, Angie Simmons, Leslie Merrill and Cindy Brandle. Each dancer will share personal stories of important transitional times that helped to shape their journey on this earth. These stories will be told through video, spoken words, music and movement. Each dancer will be featured in solo pieces as well as sharing the stage together as a small community holding each other up. There will also be additional players in the concert, such as supporting dancers, and people sharing their thoughts and experiences regarding times of transition.
Overall calendar for project (dates of planning, preparation, execution and follow-up):
February 2012 – September 2012:The creation process will be executed during this time, which will include choreographic/movement invention, personal story development/character development, video shoots, original costumes designed and constructed, music/sound score editing and a massive marketing blitz will take place. During the process we will open rehearsals and video shoots to the public to witness the process prior to the completed performance and hold public movement installations during the summer.
